I was saddened to hear of the passing of Lefty Kreh.  I never met Lefty but, like many in the fly fishing world, you kind of felt like you knew him.  When I was a kid and looking for help learning the sport, Lefty was there to help.  Books on knots, casting and fly tying.  All the information was presented in a clear and comprehensive way.  Lefty’s work accelerated my learning curve and for that, I owe him a debt of gratitude.  Lefty’s favorite fish to pursue was the smallmouth bass.  He loved to fish the state’s smallmouth rivers.  Pristine and lightly fished, he loved the rural streams and rivers of Maine.  We will not see Lefty in our state again but, he will be here with us forever when we cast to his favorite fish, and remember his lessons when we hold our first smallmouth of the season.
